Purpose
The Tribal Communities Advisory Committee provides guidance to the Executive Director, staff, and volunteers on how to best partner with and serve Indigenous community members. Committee members share insights and lived experience to ensure that programs and services are responsive, inclusive, and effective.
Role and Impact
Members advise on new and existing programs, offer feedback to enhance the experience of Indigenous families and individuals, and help identify opportunities or barriers that affect participation and success. They may also propose new initiatives, partnerships, or strategies that strengthen community connections and build trust between the organization and the people it serves.
Key Functions and Benefits
- Expertise & Perspective: Brings specialized knowledge and viewpoints on cultural nuances, community needs, and program effectiveness.
- Community Engagement: Acts as a bridge between the organization and the community—fostering trust, understanding, and participation.
- Strategic Guidance: Contributes insights to inform strategic planning, innovation, and adaptation to changing community dynamics.
- Leadership: Expands the organization’s leadership pipeline by bringing new voices, creativity, and energy to the table.
Time Commitment
Quarterly or bi monthly meetings with opportunities to participate in project work in between meetings.
Stipend for Committee Members
Members will recieve a stipend of $50 / meeting and be reimbursed fro travel based on IRS mileage rate.
